Two people were killed and five others injured after two buses collided on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway at Munshiganj’s Louhajang upazila today.
A Dhaka-bound bus of Basumati Paribahan and a Mawa-bound bus of Prachesta Paribahan collided head-on in Chandrabari Bazar area around 3:45pm, Sharif Ahmed Kabir, station officer of Srinagar Fire Service and Civil Defence, said quoting witnesses.
Hena Begum, 60, a passenger of Basumati Paribahan, died on the spot. Six others were taken to Sholaghar Health Complex, where the bus driver of Basumati Paribahan 45-year-old Mohammad Badsha died.
Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Louhajang Police Station, said the driver of Prachesta Paribahan bus fled the scene after the accident.
